Rob Thomson Reportedly Keeping his Job

Topper news:
Topper could have been better in the playoffs. The Game 2 bunt decision will live in infamy. Maybe the bullpen could have been managed a little bit better.
Was he the reason they lost again? Don’t think so. Most Phillies fans would probably agree that the bats were the biggest problem, considering that they mustered a whopping four hits in an elimination game. Trea Turner, Bryce Harper, and Kyle Schwarber went 1 for 14 in game four with four strikeouts. They plated 2.3 runs per game in games 1, 2, and 4, while the pitching staff showed up in a big way. It was the hitting that really let the team down, again.
That being said, if you’re gonna fire anybody, you can make a stronger case for Kevin Long than Rob Thomson. Surely you can’t run it all the way back, can you? Somebody’s gotta be the fall guy, unless Dave Dombrowski takes a hatchet to the roster and makes his moves there instead.
Kevin has been writing about Philadelphia sports since 2009. He spent seven years in the CBS 3 sports department and started with the Union during the team's 2010 inaugural season. He went to the academic powerhouses of Boyertown High School and West Virginia University. email - k.kinkead@sportradar.com
