Ruben Amaro Continues to Piss Me Off
By Kyle Scott
Published:
In case you needed something else to aggravate you after last night, this is a quote from Ruben Amaro as reported by Philly.com reporter Matt Gelb: (The second part of the quote was a response to an obvious follow-up question about trading Cliff Lee before the season)
"I'm always more concerned about the pitching."
"If we had Cliff Lee, we wouldn't have Roy Halladay."
Let me recap, Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay were on the team together for about five minutes, then he traded Lee for the corpse of Phillippe Aumont and a cast of other B-level minor leaguers. Amaro then said this to Mike Misanelli about the guys he acquired for CP Lee:
"You're talking about prospects, we don't know what these guys are going to become yet. Again, these are young guys who are in A-ball"
Right, so why give away a Cliff Lee for them?
I would rather have Lee and Halladay than Halladay and a bunch of useless jerks in the minors. How 'bout you?
He also said he wouldn't care how reacquiring Cliff Lee would make the organization look. Yeah, sure.
