The Phillies won the trade. It was a little more than five years ago when they swapped Sanchez, Jorge Alfaro, and Will Stewart for J.T. Realmuto, who went on to become a two-time All Star and win two Gold Gloves. He was All-MLB First Team twice and earned two Silver Sluggers, the BCIB for a portion of his Phillies tenure. Sanchez dealt with injuries and never got his career on track while Alfaro enjoyed cups of coffee with various MLB teams and Stewart bounced around the minors. Realmuto came to the Phils with two years of club control, declined a qualifying offer in 2020, then re-upped on a five-year deal worth $115 million. The rest, as they say, is history.
