Steve Cohen Mad Because Mets were Leveraged by an Agent

Let’s check in on the Mets.

Well this is interesting. It would appear as though owner Steve Cohen is unhappy:

He’s mad because Steven Matz signed a four-year, $44 million contract with the Cardinals. Matz was a Met from 2015 until January of this year, when he was traded to the Blue Jays. On the market this offseason, he had interest from a bunch of teams, Mets included, and Cohen got burned.

But that’s the name of the game. The word of an agent is worth less than the NFT that Ben Simmons is currently using as his social media profile picture. You can’t ever trust an agent. Not Scott Boras, not Drew Rosenhaus, not Rich Paul, not any of those guys. They only care about their clients and themselves, which is the name of the game, unfortunately.

Matz’s agent leveraged the Mets to get a fourth year from Saint Louis. Good bit of business. Cohen tweeting about it probably doesn’t help in this department. Does anybody at all want to work with a Twitter complainer? Didn’t think so.

Here’s something worth looking at:
