JoJo Romero got the W in the box score, but whatever. Walked pitched a great game.
This just further confirms what we already knew. When you start Phillies players at the World Baseball Classic, you’re going to win. When you start dorkface Pete Alonso and New York Mets players, you will lose. And yes, Walker was a Met before signing with the Phillies, but it’s obvious how much he’s already improved since leaving behind the loser malaise of Queens and coming to a real baseball city.
FYI Walker was born in Louisiana, but has Mexican roots on his mother’s side, so that’s why he’s representing them in the tournament.
