The Mets Selling NLCS Tickets Before Game 4 Will Surely Not Come Back to Bite Them in the Ass

Someone get this to the team! Someone get this tweet in the hands of Bryce Harper! The Mets think this series is so over that they’re starting to sell NLCS tickets.* This is officially the Mets’ “Atta Boy” moment. It has #LOLMets written all over it:
The Mets are placing single-game NLCS tickets on sale today at noon.
Should they advance, the Mets would host NLCS Games 3-5 at Citi Field on Oct. 16-18.

I’m not going to lie, I needed this. I’ve been searching for something to hang my hat on and be like, “you know what the baseball gods aren’t going to quite like that.” It’s corny, but it’s all I have when the Phillies lineup is scuffling right now.
Selling NLCS tix before the series is even over feels a lot like Bill Belichick reading the Eagles’ parade route to the Patriots the night before the Super Bowl:

If the Phillies come back and win this series you’ll know why. An organization like the Mets can’t start selling tickets when the series isn’t even over yet. What happened to the scrappy underdog? I thought that’s exactly what the Mets wanted everyone to believe. That they didn’t have the highest payroll in baseball and were just a bunch of guys held together with duct tape and Elmer’s glue. You can’t be the “Ya Gotta Believe!” Mets and then go out and put NLCS tickets on the market. Not when your organization is defined by a history of the worst collapses imaginable. Look at these cocky bastards wearing grills during interviews:

The baseball gods don’t take kindly to these kinds of gestures. The scales of justice are tipping back in the Phillies’ favor. If you’re a Mets fan and you bought an NLCS ticket just know there is Grimace’s blood on your hands too.
This and Cindy are the only thing keeping me in the series right now:

*If you have a Phillies NLCS ticket email sitting in your inbox I don’t want to hear about it.
