The New York Mets Missed the Playoffs

In order to make the playoffs, the Mets needed to win in Miami on Sunday while having the Reds lose in Milwaukee. Cincinnati did indeed lose, but so did the Mets, so we are now laughing:
This one was particularly hilarious, because they used eight pitchers in a 4-0 loss to the Marlins. Edwin Diaz was in there in the 5th inning. They mustered a grand total of 5 hits while striking out 11 times. If the Mets are going to Met, they can only do it in comical fashion.
They’ll finish with a 83-79 record on the season, despite having Major League Baseball’s 2nd-highest payroll. Their starting pitching was all over the place and they blew a ton of leads along the way. They were 55-42 at the All Star Break and went 28-37 in the second half.
With the bracket set, it’ll now be Dodgers/Reds in the 3/6 matchup. The Phillies will get the winner of that series while the Brewers will host the winner of the Padres/Cubs series. The Mets are hosting the next tee time at Bethpage Black.
