The Philadelphia Inquirer has Disrespected Boyertown
Blue Jays newcomer Trey Yesavage is starting game one of the World Series against the Dodgers. It’s an incredible story. The guy didn’t even make his Major League debut until the end of the regular season, and he’s been a key part of the Toronto rotation ever since. He EXPLODED onto the scene by mowing down the Yanks in the ALDS, which was beautiful to watch for Jays fans and neutrals alike.
The Inquirer wrote about the local product, a good read from Lochlahn March, but there’s one problem:
Pottstown? POTTSTOWN? Trey Yesavage isn’t from fucking Pottstown. He was born in Pottstown but he is a BOYERTOWN native who went to the heralded and respected Boyertown Area School District. He’s a Boyertown Bear. Saying that Trey Yesavage is from Pottstown is like saying that Fishtown is Bridesburg.
Trey Yesavage is the greatest Boyertown export since 3x Super Bowl winner James Develin. We also produced John Mellencamp’s second wife, Elaine Irwin, USWNT goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart, and Steve Burns from the original Blue’s Clues. Nothing ever happens in Boyertown, and when there’s finally something newsworthy, the credit goes to Pottstown. It’s outrageous. Put some respect on Boyertown’s name! I invite Inquirer editors to Boyertown. We’ll go to The Grill Shop for lunch and then later hit up The Dump for some coffee and cigarettes. Then, if Inquirer editors are up for it, we’ll race down Route 100 in a “souped up” Honda Civic that someone’s parents are paying for.
