Well, that was ugly.

The Phillies got blown out by the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday afternoon, falling 17-2 in the 2nd game of a 3-game set.

It started off with the Brewers scoring four runs in the 1st inning, three from a Rhys Hoskins home run. That was followed by eight runs in the 4th and a Rob Thomson ejection. Jesus Luzardo was called for a late balk, Thomson let the umpires have it, and was eventually thrown out of the game:

Here’s what Thomson had to say after the game about his ejection.

Luzardo’s day ended in the 4th, shortly after Hoskins hit his 2nd home run. It was the worst of Luzardo’s career. He allowed 12 hits, 12 earned runs, and walked 3 batters while striking out four. How good has Luzardo been this season? After allowing those 12 runs, his ERA is now 3.58:

The Brewers totaled 23 hits. Every starter other than Joey Ortiz and Brice Turang had a multi-hit game. Weston Wilson pitched two scoreless innings. The Phillies racked up 5 runs in the 9th to give the stadium some fake hope, including a home run from Brandon Marsh.

They’ll have to win Sunday’s matinee to avoid being swept out by Milwaukee. Ranger Suarez will get the start, with Jose Quintana getting the nod for the Brewers.
