The Phillies Need to Replicate the Spirit and Resilience of Lieutenant Dan Before Game 4
By Kyle Pagan

If you haven’t heard there is a one-legged viral sensation down in Tampa nicknamed Lieutenant Dan that is waiting out Hurricane Milton on his fishing boat behind a Publix. He refuses to abandon ship even though there is a Category 4 storm bearing down on him. Darwinism at it’s finest folks. In a lot of ways he resembles the 2024 Phillies. Resilient, irritatingly stubborn, and honestly kind of dumb & horny:

The Phillies are staring their own Cat 4 in the face tonight. They need everything out of Ranger and a sluggish lineup or their going down with the ship. Everyone in Tampa is telling LD it’s over. Leave the boat behind and get to a shelter.
Why’s he staying? The boat floats on water, duh:
@terrenceconcannon @JoeSea on why he wont leave the boat
What a metaphor. The water is going to come in. The boat goes up with the water. Keep the water out of the boat and the boat won’t go down. The SS Phillies is taking on water. They’re fighting for their lives to keep it afloat. But it’s still in the game. One game at a time. One day at a time. But not without the world trying to bring him down. They’re lying on LD’s downfall just like the they’re lying on the Phillies’:

I know the Mayor of Tampa just said in her press conference that Lieutenant Dan went to a shelter.
He didn’t,

And the more I watch LD the more his blind confidence convinces me that he’s actually going to withstand this storm and make it out alive.
Listen to this guy and tell me I’m wrong:
@terrenceconcannon Lot of people have been commenting this, so thought I would ask him. I have a hotel for him near the Tampa airport, but his is still hesitant on going. There have been many attempts from police to get him out of there, so hoping he makes the right decision and leaves 🙏
It’s just like Casty’s quote after Game 3. “This is the closest to death we’re ever going to get. So in a way, we should feel the most alive.”
“This is the closest to death we’re ever going to get. So in a way, we should feel the most alive.”
Nick Castellanos with some wise words.

It’s not actually blind confidence from LD it’s the feeling of being so close to death that it actually makes him feel the most alive he’s ever felt.
He won’t give up. So the Phillies better not either. Never say die attitude. Don’t go down without a fight. I hope everyone in that Phillies locker room has been watching Lieutenant Dan updates all day! This might be the last baseball game he’s ever alive for. Are they going to lose it? Hell no! We’re going to take this series and then LD can throw out the first pitch in Spring Training next year. It’s Lieutenant Dan and the Phillies. The Phillies and Lieutenant Dan. Attached at the hip like where his other leg should be:
@terrenceconcannon When people ask him lieutenant Dan if hes leaving
