Aaron Altherr, a highly thought-of youngster with both POWER AND SPEED who was projected to start in the outfield for the Phillies this season, will miss 4-6 months after undergoing wrist surgery for an injury he suffered diving for a ball on Friday:

Dr. Culp is the Phillies’ hand and wrist specialist. He’s worked on Cole Hamels and Chase Utley. He also repaired my wrist in 2006– putting a plate and nine screws in it after I broke it when I got punched in the face. They’re still in there. Wrist works great, though! STRONG WRIST! Powerful wrist. So safe to say Aaron will be in good, ahem, hands.
