The Philly Captain Reminds Soft Eddie Perez that he has No Emmys

Here’s another exchange between Cap and Eddie Perez. It’s a little more cordial. Maybe this was a rare occasion of Perez being in a good mood:
Maybe Perez was just pacing himself because he had to spend all day at the ballpark for the doubleheader. He knew he had a grind ahead of him. You kick one person out, then what? You gotta kick ’em all out?
Transcribed:
Philly Captain: “Let me get a ball. Let me get a ball. Let me get a ball. Give me a ball.“
Eddie Perez: <mouths something inaudible>
Captain: “A lot of people said you’re really mean. Cause when you won man of the year, I congratulated you. But I won an Emmy and you won’t congratulate me!“
Perez: <gives Cap a thumbs down>
Captain: “Why would you give me a thumbs down? That’s not nice.” <talking to another fan now> “Hello! Be careful! He’ll kick you out! You’re yelling.”
Perez: “Anybody can do that (win an Emmy)”
Captain: “No, you can’t do that. How many Emmys you got?”
Was that a laugh from Perez? See, there’s a normal human being in there somewhere. He DOES know how to banter! Still soft, though. But he’s right about Emmys. Anybody can win one. I have one in my office, basically rode Walt Hunter’s coattails for that statue. But yeah, if you missed the news, the Trea Turner documentary, which is really about Captain’s battle with mental health struggles, won a sports Emmy recently. It’s a short doc and worth watching.
