HELLO EVERYBODY AND WELCOME TO BEEEEEEAAAAAUUUUUUTIFUL CLEVELAND OHIO WHERE THE BROWNS WELCOME THE DETROIT LIONS FOR THE START OF A THREE-GAME HOMESTAND I’M TOM MCCARTHY AND YOU CAN’T GET AWAY FROM ME BECAUSE MY VOICE WAS JUST MADE TO BE ON THE AIRWAVES AND THEY’LL LET ME ANNOUNCE ANYTHING – BASEBALL, BASKETBALL, FOOTBALL, YOU NAME IT – I HAVE PICTURES OF SOMEONE AND THEY KEEP PAYING ME TO TELL YOU ABOUT SPORTING EVENTS SO HERE WE GO IT’S THE BROWNS AND LIONS ON THE NFL ON FOX, WITH YOU EVVVVVVVVERY STEP OF THE WAY.
With Joe Buck and his peppy hair in Boston for Game 2 of the ALCS and yet another improbable victory for Beantown, FOX Sports reached deep into its stable of announcers for an NFL fill-in and pulled out regional baseball play-by-play man and the guy who haunts your summer nights, Tom McCarthy, to bring local and RedZone viewers the Plight of America Bowl between Cleveland and Detroit.
Poor Tom spent the whole broadcast trying to figure out what he could say to impress David Montgomery.
