“We Need to Deal with that Issue,” Says Rob Manfred in Regard to the Pittsburgh Pirates Being Cheap and Useless

Famous Yinzer and WVU alumnus Pat McAfee broached, with Rob Manfred, the topic of the Pittsburgh Pirates being a total embarrassment:
“There are tons and tons of really passionate Pirates fans who remember when the Pirates were a great, great team, year-in and year-out. And they just want to look at the system and say ‘we got a fair chance to win’ when you’re sitting around in February and looking at spring training and what the year is gonna be like. We need to deal with that issue.“
FYI the last time the Pirates were a “great great team, year-in and year-out,” was before the Iranian revolution. The Shah was still in charge the last time the Pirates won a playoff series. They claimed a couple of World Series victories way back when, with guys like Roberto Clemente and Willie Stargell on the roster.
Ever since, the Buccos have been a Major League Baseball doormat. They are consistently in the bottom eight in total payroll and the Yinzers have just about had it with owner Bob Nutting, aka “Bottom Line Bob.” So when Manfred says “we need to deal with that issue,” you could very easily install a salary floor and tell these cheapo bum owners to get with the program or sell. It would absolutely be good for the game, because parity is king and we’re sick of the Dodgers and Yanks and usual suspects.
DFA Bob Nutting. Free our Yinzer brothers and sisters in the Burgh. Serenity now!
