Weekend Schedule Update: Phillies Open the NLDS About an Hour Before the Union Play for a Trophy

This will be a nice 1-2 combo on Saturday night:
It’s probably gonna be the Red Sox and Blue Jays, so a 6:08 p.m. start on Saturday night. The Union host fake team NYC FC at home at 7:30 p.m. and they’re playing for a trophy.
With Lionel Messi and Inter Miami dropping points in Toronto on Saturday, then getting clubbed at home on Tuesday night, they’re stuck on 56 points with 31 games played. The Union are on 63 points with 32 games played. If the U win on Saturday, they go to 66 points and 20 total wins, and would lift the Supporters’ Shield no matter what happens on Matchday 34 in Charlotte. That’s because they’d own the “total wins” tiebreaker over the Vancouver Whitecaps, the same tiebreaker that prevented them from winning the 2022 Shield despite having a +46 goal differential and fewer losses than LAFC.
So this is a tasty weekend coming up. Flyers and Sixers kick it off with preseason games. Then Phillies vs. likely the Dodgers, either at 6:08 p.m. or 6:38 p.m., before the Union cap it off with a chance to win the second trophy in franchise history. Eagles vs. Broncos on Sunday at 1 p.m. Buckle up, boys and girls.
