Will Brad Lidge Please Pitch to a Hitter!?!
By Kyle Scott
Published:
This comes from today's Phillies.com notes:
Philadelphia closer Brad Lidge, who began the season on the disabled list, threw 35 pitches in a bullpen session Thursday. Lidge is recovering from offseason elbow and knee surgeries
I don't know if you've noticed lately, but it has been news every time Brad Lidge throws a bullpen session without incident (seriously, do a Google News search for "Brad Lidge" and see how many stories there are about him throwing without incident). It is not good for our season, if our "stud" closer throwing a successful bullpen session is newsworthy. If he really is starting to get healthy, could he at least face a hitter?
Notice how JC Romero has at least progressed, and thrown in a minor league game:
Left-hander J.C. Romero, who had offseason surgery on his elbow, threw eight pitches in a Minor League game Thursday and is scheduled to pitch again Saturday
I still have a bad feeling about Lidge this year… Perhaps he can join the Jeff Carter rehab program of girls and beer.
