Add JJ Redick to the List of People who Think Ben Simmons is Right Handed

Missed this the other day. It’s JJ Redick joining the ranks of folks who think Ben Simmons shoots with the wrong hand:

This was a very popular theory a few years ago. I guess the reason the topic died down is because people came to the conclusion that nothing was going to change. Ben wasn’t just going to magically appear one day, bombing mid-range jumpers with his right hand. But there was always evidence to suggest his approach was wrong. He finished at the rim with his right hand. He threw a ceremonial first pitch with his right hand. Yet he was on the free throw line with that ugly-looking side spin coming off his left.

There’s nothing particularly new about all of this, but I put a ton of stock in Redick’s thoughts, because guy is a phenomenal shooter who had a long NBA career. He’s right when he says the mechanics of Ben’s shot look like something you’d get from a righty. You know how Ben’s elbow was always flared out? Try making that same motion with your arms, but switch the hand you use to shoot the ball. You’ll realize Ben’s form is perfect… for a righty.

But we won’t see Ben shooting anything tonight, because he’s injured and sitting on the bench.
