Allen Iverson is a wise man. I’m going to choose to believe Allen Iverson when he says all this stuff:

Transcribed:

JEFF SKVERSKY: “Do you think he (LeBron James) can help take this team to the Finals for the first time since ’01?“

IVERSON: “Do I think? No, I know. For a fact. It’s gonna happen.”

SKVERSKY: “Why are you so confident?“

IVERSON: Because I’m, I’m confident, in, in — the ability of the other guys that we have on the roster. And most importantly, we got the best fans in the world. You know what I mean? They gonna show up and show out for us. I, it’s — this is it. We gonna have a parade. I promise you that.“

SKVERSKY: “Did you tell LeBron that?“

IVERSON: “He know it. I don’t have to tell him that.”

That’s right. The Sixers are going to win the 2026-2027 NBA Finals. There’s going to be a Sixers parade down Broad Street. It’s going to happen. Allen Iverson said it. I love AI and I trust him with my life and I have no reason to doubt him on this. He said he promises. I accept his promise.

Now, is it worth pointing out that AI didn’t really give a reason why he thinks the Sixers are about to become champs? Sure. Did I notice that when Jeff pressed him on where his confidence in the team comes from, AI offered the most blanket-statement-stuff possible, pointing to “the rest of the guys on the roster” (didn’t name them) and “the best fans in the world” (who don’t have anything to do with actually winning games on the floor)? Course. How about the fact that AI spends this very brief conversation looking like he’d like it to be over, and seems like he’s just quickly blurting out canned answers so he can leave whatever event this is before he’s peer pressured into taking off his Yankees hat and putting on a balloon crown like the woman behind him?

Yeah, I clocked that. Absolutely.

But nevertheless, AI is the man. He gave us his word, and I believe him. I’ll see you all at the parade.
