Brian Windhorst at ESPN:

Ben Simmons hopes to play for the Australian National Team in this summer’s FIBA World Cup and has been included in the team’s initial selection pool, sources told ESPN.

The Brooklyn Nets’ guard didn’t play in the team’s final 23 games because of a back injury and has been rehabbing. His return to play will be dictated by the progress of that recovery, which has been going well, sources said.

Simmons hasn’t played for the Boomers, who won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, since 2013.

Is the Ben Simmons revenge tour coming? Australia opens against Finland on August 25th, so Ben can announce his basketball return by backing down some guy named “Teemu” and dunking all over him. That’s the ceiling. The floor is being bullied by Lauri Markkanen and airballing a jump hook. What version of Ben will we get? We’ll have to wait and see!

Keep in mind, if it doesn’t work out for Ben, there is always Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. I still think his future is in eSports, maybe with the FaZe Clan or some shit. Maybe Ben retires from basketball entirely and begins a new professional gaming life as Simmo the Savage.
