Brett Brown “Fully” Expects Ben Simmons to Play this Season

Parsing what Brett Brown is saying vs. what the front office is putting forth is becoming an everyday occurrence for Sixers fans, and today is no different. Bryan Colangelo, perhaps to cover his bases, has hinted that Ben Simmons might not play at all this season. Brett Brown, always optimistic, says otherwise. As reported by ESPN’s Jeff Goodman:
“Our plan is to still see him on the court, playing games. We just don’t know when. I fully expect him to play this season. He thinks that, and he’s motivated to play.”
Brown and Colangelo are like your Mom and Dad. When you were a kid, you’d ask your Mom if you can do something because you know she’d give you a maybe while your dad would scare the ever living shit out of you.
But the question remains for Brett and Ben: When? Simmons has not yet played 5-on-5 in practice, and the regular season ends in 56 days. Remove at least five days post-ASB for Simmons to get those practices in, and you’re down to 42 days (or 23 games). The clock is ticking.
