Daryl Morey Doesn’t Want You to Forget that the Sixers Had the 3rd-Best Odds to Win the Championship

Did you know the Sixers had the third-best odds to win the title before they completely shit the bed? Daryl Morey wants doesn’t want you to forget that. You want some optimism for next year? Well here is a spoonful of it, baby! If the guys who are perennially hurt stay healthy, then the Sixers are going to be a problem next year:
This is exactly what Sixers fans want to hear. They can’t wait to tell the Knicks and Celtics fans on social media enjoying the wealth of their riches and organizational stability that you might be enjoying the fruits of your labor, but remember the Sixers had the third-best odds to win the title. Suck on that! On paper, the Sixers are a juggernaut. If Adam Silver just decides to simulate the entire regular season next year NBA 2K style (and turn injuries off) the Sixers are going to be a PROBLEM!
We’ll always remember the Sixers’ 2024-25 season where they had the third-best odds to win it all. Add it to the 2004-05 Eagles season and 2023-24 Phillies season. Who could forget those!
Don’t worry though, there was more. Why should you believe in Daryl? Well he’s never had a losing season before this year and his deep playoff runs speak for themselves. The lottery? What the hell is the lottery? Never heard of it:
Sure, Daryl has a good tenure in the NBA. I can admit it. There was a run where he was a top-5 GM. Has the reason he didn’t make it to an NBA Finals maybe been a bit of bad luck? Sure. He ran into the juggernaut Warriors while in Houston and a Chris Paul injury sent them into a tailspin when they were up 3-2 on Golden State before Paul was out for Games 6 & 7. But no one in Philly wants to hear Daryl talk about his resume even if he was asked the question. This answer sounds condescending. “How dare you question the great and powerful Daryl Morey!” What’s Morey going to deliver us to? The conference finals? Because that’s the furthest he’s ever gotten. We are perennial second round losers and no Sixers fan wants to hear anything but how they’re going to make the Finals after spending the last decade not meeting expectations. There is no GM in this city who sticks his foot in his mouth like Daryl currently:
He just doesn’t understand the fanbase and he’s too stubborn to sometimes pull back. He’s a smart guy. Everyone knows he’s a smart guy, but he’s a smart guy that has to remind you how smart he is all the time. His arrogance is what burns him here. Take your medicine from this season and let your moves in the offseason and ensuing play on the court (hopefully) speak for itself. Howie Roseman is a perfect example to emulate. Everyone wanted that guy fired in 2020. He didn’t go on the radio and talk about odds during that offseason. He flipped his franchise QB, built on those moves, and completely dug himself out of the hole he albeit created for himself. Now he’s a Super Bowl champion again. No one loves an underdog story quite like Philadelphians.
