In what seems to be an unfortunate coincidence every time there’s a “first nice day of the year,” Tuesday was a deadly one in Philadelphia. Six people were murdered in the city, including the brother of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Dion Waiters.

According to CBS 3, Demetrius Pinckney was pronounced dead at 8:01 p.m. in Grays Ferry “after officers found him lying on his back with severe head injuries.” Waiters posted in Pinckney’s memory on Instagram, and no arrests have been made.

In November 2014, Wayne Ellington (now with the Brooklyn Nets) lost his father to a homicide in Germantown.
