Discrepancy on Whether or Not Tyrese Maxey is Actually Done for the Year, as Sixers Lose 10th Straight

The Sixers lost their 10th in a row on Thursday night, which is great news for their lottery positioning.

Adem Bona had a career-high 28 points, but alas, Giannis and company were just too much.

Before the game, Nick Nurse had different information than what Shams reported earlier in the day:

The Shams report was on First Take. Pretty short, but he said Maxey is done for the year with a finger problem and said it was confirmed by Rich Paul:

For what it’s worth, the Sixers never sent out any kind of press release or memo with a Maxey update. He hasn’t played in more than a month and they should just shut him down anyway. There are only a handful of games left and they need to lose them. It’s just another dumb optics thing, with Shams saying that he got the information straight from the horse’s mouth, in this case the horse being the agent. So maybe Rich Paul and Klutch aren’t on the same page with the Sixers, and that’s the source of the discrepancy. Regardless, you’ve got people out here thinking the Led Zeppelin-style communication breakdown is between Nurse and the front office, and that Nurse is totally in the dark and being kept in Howie Roseman’s 2015 broom closet, but that’s just spitballing, of course. What’s important is that the Sixers continue to lose. As of Friday morning, they are 5th-worst in the NBA with a 42% chance to land in the top four and a 10.5% to #CaptureTheFlagg and get the #1 overall pick. Play the song!
