Eric Gordon Says He’s Not the Snitch from 2024 Sixers Team Meeting

By now everyone has read the Joel Embiid deep dive on ESPN.com, which mentions a locker room snitch who leaked information about a 2024 team meeting in which Tyrese Maxey called out Embiid. Joel told Dotun Akintoye that he knows which teammate did it, and that the person could be back after free agency:
Maxey, whom Embiid considers one of his best friends, confronted Embiid about being late for team events and dragging the morale of the group down.
Embiid told a reporter, “Whoever leaked that is a real piece of s—.” He reportedly vowed to find the source.
“I know who leaked it,” Embiid tells me during a late-night phone call after the season ends.
“You do?”
“Yeah, but I’m not going to — the past is the past,” Embiid says. “The one thing I’ll say is, it’s hard being around people that do those sorts of stuff.
“That goes back to the trust thing. Once you cross that — you can’t expect me to be part of a team meeting again. That’s just not going to happen.”
“The way you’re talking, it sounds like this person is still around,” I say.
“I don’t know,” he says.
“Come on, Joel, you know who’s on your team right now,” I say, laughing.
“Free agency just started,” he says. “I don’t know what’s going on.”
“So there’s a chance this person may not be around next season,” I say.
“No,” he says. “There’s a chance they’re still around.”
A lot of people are assuming the rat is Eric Gordon.
Gordon responded on Twitter, saying it’s not him:

I don’t have the first clue to who leaked the details of that meeting. The Sixers free agents this offseason, who would’ve been in that locker room, were Eric Gordon, Kyle Lowry, Guerschon Yabusele, and Justin Edwards. Gordon seems to be prime suspect #1 on a lot of Sixers fans’ minds, if you read the Reddit message boards and similar, but there’s no clear cut suspect. I don’t see why Edwards or Yabusele would risk their status so Lowry and Gordon seem like your best bet if you’re playing at home.

No matter who it is, it feels like this is going to be another long Sixers season. We’ve got another Paul George knee injury, Embiid saying he’s not going to participate in a team meeting ever again, and the rat is still out there. Your team, your town, your Philadelphia 76ers!
