Happy Retirement to Marco Belinelli, Who Had a Fun Cup of Coffee with the Sixers

Marco Belinelli is calling it a career:
Belinelli had what we would call a cup of coffee with the Sixers. He was waived by the Hawks in February of 2018 and signed with Philly shortly after, playing 28 regular season games and 10 playoff games, but they were hella enjoyable. Watching him and JJ Redick fly around screens and bomb three pointers. Ben Simmons running the floor and slinging the rock and Brett Brown’s motion offense operating at its peak. This was the first good team in the post-Process era, and even without Joel Embiid for the stretch run, they went 19-3 in March and April and rumbled into the postseason as the #3 seed.
Belinelli started the Miami series on fire, scoring 25 points in game one, 21 in game three, and hitting double digits in the other three games. He cooled off a bit in the Boston series, but hit the memorable game three shot to send it to overtime before the Sixers hit their first of many Celtic walls to come. Then Belinelli left in free agency and rejoined the Spurs in before eventually going back to Europe with Virtus Bologna. He won a ring with the Spurs in 2014.
Congrats to Marco on a great career. That was a fun Sixers era because they were turning the corner and fans were really excited about their future prospects, which, well, you know the rest of the story.
