Jared McCain is back in Philly for the first time since the Sixers traded him to the Thunder in February.

It was a shock moment for him, for us, for the entire NBA, really, as McCain played great basketball before an injury derailed his rookie season. Now he’s in town with the Thunder and averaging 12.6 PPG while shooting 42.9% from three in March:

“It means a lot. I always loved the Philly fans. They were super nice to me whenever I went out, when I got hurt, coming back from it they were just super positive and super helpful in my opinion, so shoutout to them for having my back I guess, through the process. The DMs I’ve gotten are super nice, just saying they miss me and stuff, so yeah, definitely love the Philly fans for lifeTo be drafted here, when I first got drafted it’s obviously the greatest day of my life. So I’ll always be thankful for Philly, for Daryl (Morey) for drafting me. It’s a once in a lifetime thing, so I’ll never have any regret of being here, any attitude towards this organization because they drafted me. This is the best feeling and I was so grateful to be here, and still I’m grateful to be back now.”

McCain is coming off a string of games in which he’s scored double digit points in four of his last six. He had 18 in Washington on Saturday and 26 in Brooklyn last Wednesday. He’s playing 19.5 minutes per game this month and getting up about 10 shots per game.

Time will tell if the Sixers end up regretting the trade. They have to cash in the draft picks they got in return before we cast any kind of realistic judgment, but so far it’s looking like a head scratcher of a move.
