Jay Wright “Not a Candidate” for Sixers Job, Says He’s Staying at Villanova

Jay Wright will not be coaching the Sixers in 2020.

That’s according to him, in a straightforward Twitter message sent this afternoon:

 

And thus ends the speculation. We wrote that he would be crazy to leave Nova for the Sixers gig, and he wisely avoided this mess of a roster by deciding to stick with one of the college basketball’s premier programs.

Also, the blunt messaging here is appreciated. Don’t let the speculation continue to run rampant in the media. If you aren’t interested, just nip that right in the bud and we all move on.
