Joel Embiid was on The Old Man & the Three podcast with JJ Redick.

JJ got pretty emotional recounting how long Joel’s game has come since his time in high school with zero basketball experience. Here is a portion of the interview:

That was pretty cool. Imagine thinking you were going to be a pro volleyball player, then being discovered at a basketball camp, and now competing for the single highest achievement a player can win in your profession. All in 10 years. That’s wild. The Sixers, Drew Hanlen, everyone should send this clip to those 34 people who voted for Joel Embiid for 3rd place in that ESPN MVP poll. Heads need to roll. This is bigger than just an award. Joel Embiid winning the MVP will have a global effect on the game of basketball. Billions will see a player from Cameroon holding up the MVP trophy and it’ll kickstart the flow of money into Africa to build indoor courts and get players better equipment. The next Joel Embiid is already playing on a blacktop somewhere in Africa right now.

I love this guy. Good thing is he loves us too:
