Kyle O’Quinn Explains Why He ‘Liked’ a Curious Social Media Post

Little bit of a social media hubbub this week regarding Kyle O’Quinn and Trey Burke. Nothing huge, just a low-level red flag here, like the lowest level DEFCON possible.
It goes back to a post made by Burke’s father, who isn’t happy with the the minutes his son is receiving. Burke played just six minutes in the Brooklyn loss after not featuring at all in the New Orleans and Boston games, which brought us this:
Trey Burke’s dad wants him out of Philly and Kyle O’Quinn liked it 🧐🧐🧐 pic.twitter.com/qbo8c36gBB

People always become alarmed when they see these types of things. Does O’Quinn support Burke? Does he agree with the dad? Does he secretly hate the Sixers? Stuff like that gets tossed around.
Today he was asked about it straight up and offered this answer:
Here’s what Kyle O’Quinn had to say about liking the Instagram post of the tweet sent by Trey Burke’s father (what a sentence that was to type). pic.twitter.com/yLElOw5Tgd

O’Quinn, in part:
“I like pretty much everything on Instagram if it’s Sixer-related. That’s why I follow those pages. I think they support us during the good times and bad times. If you noticed, that was a tweet, it was a tweet posted on Instagram. I just liked the post on Instagram so it’s not like I went and retweeted it, commented, shared my thoughts…
To be honest, I didn’t even know that was his dad’s Twitter handle. I’ve met him several times, but he’s always been Mr. Burke to me. A name like that, I didn’t (catch it), but I just liked it because it’s a fan sharing their insight on the game.”
O’Quinn says he took a bit of flak but isn’t surprised or worried about it. He says it has nothing to do with him.
For what it’s worth, he hasn’t played much either, taking a backseat to Norvel Pelle in recent games that Joel Embiid and Al Horford missed.
