Holy cow.

This one came totally out of nowhere:

Damn. That’s crazy. Aldridge just moved to the Nets following a buyout and played six games for them, including Saturday’s contest against the Lakers. He was out for the Timberwolves’ game and did not play against the Sixers Wednesday night.

Obviously there are ramifications involving Philadelphia here, because Aldridge was a 15-year veteran and 7x All-Star who gave Brooklyn more front court presence alongside DeAndre Jordan. He would have been able to help them against Joel Embiid in a playoff series, but now that’s obviously not going to happen.

On a more serious note, hopefully he’s healthy and has no long-term issues, and at least he’s calling it a career on his own volition before something possibly tragic could have happened. He was a great player for a long time and at least he gets to go out on his own terms, even if the situation isn’t something that he would have foreseen or wanted.
