Opt-In Gate: There’s a Sixers Conspiracy Theory “Going Around the League”

On Zach Lowe’s Tuesday podcast, he brought up an interesting scenario if James Harden were to opt out of his final contract year:

Someone shake some sense into Zach Lowe. He thinks just because James Harden said he’ll opt in, he’ll actually opt in? Hasn’t he covered the NBA for 20 years now? Does he also think people are calling to talk about his car’s extended warranty, too? How many Nigerian monarchies has Zach Lowe funded? When did we start taking NBA players at their word? Does Zach Lowe know Kyrie Irving actually doesn’t play point for the Boston Celtics anymore? So what if James Harden said he’ll opt-in? –

If Daryl Morey really wanted him to opt in, he would’ve had lawyers going over deals between lap dances in the champagne room of Spearmint Rhino. Instead let’s blame it on a clerical issue for now, until people realize James Harden and Daryl Morey just fleeced the entire league. Harden might sign for 4 years/$80 million. When you’ve made over $300 million in your career what’s a couple more million here or there? You don’t want to seem gluttonous.

This is exactly the type of conspiracy theory I need after that blowout last night. Enjoy your 50 point win and your fancy little win streak Boston. The Sixers have Malvern Prep visits to get on LeBron’s schedule:
