The tweet:

Hell yeah. This is a great to see: some employee at a AAA in South Philly was so excited about LeBron, so thrilled, so beside themselves, that they had to change the office computer wallpaper to a Photoshop of LeBron as Benjamin Franklin. That’s a real fan. That’s what fandom is all about. Integrating the team into your everyday life and, like missionaries, spreading the good word far and wide to your family, friends, and strangers who enter your AAA and get a glimpse of your two computer screens.

I can’t help but wish I had more information on the employee who made this image their laptop/desktop wallpaper, and without the hard facts I seek, I can’t help but fill in the gaps with my imagination:

I see a dutiful AAA guy. Every day he comes to work ten minutes early and sits in the car listening to WIP, drinking coffee, getting his head right, preparing for another day of expertly helping customers manage their memberships, purchase insurance, and connect callers to dispatcher centers who offer roadside assistance — all with a positive attitude. He cares about his job. He cares about sports. And when the LeBron news broke, like all of us, he couldn’t have been more thrilled.

The euphoria carried him through the mundanities of the next week with a buoyancy he’d never before experienced in his life. And soon he felt the need to do something with his good cheer. Listening to the radio and podcasts and texting family and friends wasn’t enough. He had to contribute. So he opened the Photoshop that came with the work computer. It had not been updated since 2012, but it did not matter. It was enough.

The employee spent every moment of his free time for the next four workdays – breaks and lunches included – trying to get LeBron’s head onto the Benjamin Franklin Sixers logo released in 2015 that you pretty much never see anymore. It took effort. It took patience. It took watching and rewatching YouTube tutorials with no sound and just the captions on. But eventually, finally, he did it. LeBron was Benjamin; Ben was LeBron. It was familiar; it was new. And it became the wallpaper of the office’s 2009 Dell desktop. His work was done.

And every day since, multiple times a day, a coworker or a customer would notice the new wallpaper, point to it, and say, “Hey, nice.”

And the employee would take great pride. “I made that,” he’d say.

“Nice,” they’d say again.

“Took me four days.”

“Cool.”

And for that moment, the employee’s euphoria was back, just as strong as it was for all of us on that fateful Friday. “LeBron is a Sixer,” he’d think, smiling and nodding to himself. “His head is where Ben Franklin’s head should be. I did it. We did it…”

Well done, AAA employee. Congrats on making a good Photoshop. And if you aren’t the one who actually made it, and you maybe just found it online somewhere, please don’t tell me. I prefer this version.
