This is pretty cool. The Sixers have recreated the 1982 Sports Illustrated cover featuring Moses Malone to highlight their newest acquisition Jimmy Butler. Sixers President Chris Heck put out these tweets on Friday, featuring Butler in place of Malone:

Of course, the most noticeable change made other than Butler’s likeness, is that of the hat worn on the right. In place of “Tour ’82” is the emblazoning of “TTP ’18”.

Sixers fans have to hope Butler’s path aligns with that of his predecessor: Malone was acquired prior to the 1982-83 season and won the NBA title with the Sixers that same year. Will Butler lead this Sixers squad to the NBA title? That remains to be seen, but I agree with Heck. This is #OnBrand.
