Sixers’ Stash Vasilije Micic Mentions NBA as Possibility for Next Season

Vasilije Micic on his future: „Anadolu Efes or the NBA – it's the only scenarios I have for the next season“.

Micic, who played his career season (14.5ppg, 5.8apg), is under the contract with Efes until 2021. His NBA rights owned by the Sixers, but more NBA teams are after him.

The Sixers drafted Micic in 2014 with the 52nd pick and he remained overseas, playing in Germany before going to Turkey and Lithuania. He’s now playing for Anadolu in Istanbul, where Dario Saric spent time before joining the Sixers in 2016. Furkan Korkmaz was also at Efes before coming stateside.

Micic is an interesting player. He’s 26 years old, a 6’6″ point guard who also represents the Serbian national team. He’s enjoyed two successful seasons in Turkey, most recently putting up 14.5 points and 6 assists playing 30 minutes a game. This season he was shooting 40% on 5.4 three pointers a game, and 47% from the floor on 10.8 average field goal attempts. If he joined the Sixers, he’d be competing with Shake Milton for backup ball handling minutes. Milton had been playing high-level basketball before the COVID-19 shut down.

If Micic does want to come to the NBA, but only for guaranteed minutes, the Sixers could flip his rights for an asset. Otherwise, they would take another look after he plays out his Anadolu contract.
