Stephen A. Says the Dunk Contest was “A National Embarrassment”

Stephen A. Smith hated the dunk contest, and I have to agree with him:

YouTube video

At least a New York Knick won something. Pretty good lol. I laughed at that one. Perk couldn’t get it together for half of the segment.

The dunk contest is kind of like rock music in a sense. Once you’ve done it all, where do you go? There are only so many frets on a guitar. There are only so many chords to play. Eventually you get frustrated trying to write your own music and just join a cover band instead. And you open for Fuzzy Bunny Slippers at some place in Avalon. $10 cover charge.

There are only so many dunks to try. After dude does a whirlwind 360 or jumps over the mascot for a tomahawk, then what is next? There is a finite number of dunks that can be performed. You hit a wall eventually.

Stephen A’s suggestion isn’t bad, but it doesn’t answer the question I have proposed. Even if you pull amateur dunkers off the streets, are they doing anything that Vince Carter didn’t already do? Aaron Gordon? OBI TOPPIN? There’s a way to refresh this thing, but I’m not sure what it is. If you got ideas, I’m all ears.
