The Danny Green and Al Horford Trade is Finally Official

We haven’t gotten to speak with Danny Green or Terrance Ferguson yet because the trade involving Al Horford didn’t become official until about ten minutes ago.
Here is the full deal:
- Thunder get: Al Horford, the rights to Vasilije Micic and Theo Maledon, and a protected 2025 first round pick
- Sixers get: Danny Green, Terrance Ferguson, Vincent Poirier
Monday, the Sixers waived Lamine Diane and Justin Robinson to make roster room for the trio of guys now coming in. Poirier’s name was not initially reported when the deal was done on draft night, but he’s the French seven footer who played most of his career in Europe before coming to the U.S. to join the Boston Celtics last season.
As for the draft pick going to Oklahoma City, these are the following protections, straight off the Sixers’ press release:
The 2025 first-round pick is protected for pick Nos. 1-6, and if the pick does not convey in 2025, it will be protected for pick Nos. 1-4 in both 2026 and 2027. If not conveyed in the first round of the 2025, 2026 or 2027 drafts, the pick will be a 2027 second-round selection.
This is the final offseason hurdle for the Sixers, who have now completed their two big draft night trades. Horford and Josh Richardson are out, Seth Curry and Danny Green are in. Green is on a $15 million dollar expiring contract, so Philly gets some cap relief after this season. Curry has three years remaining at about $8 million per.
Successful offseason for Daryl Morey, who shed the Horford contract and added a couple of shooters. Considering the circumstances and starting point, you’d have to say he knocked it out of the park.
