The Ringer Honors the Legend of Joel Embiid

Well, “honors” only works if you can work through Bill Simmons’ very subtle sarcasm. Genius-level subtlety:

Is this funny? Sure. Funny. That’s fine.

There are a couple of things to break down here:

  1. Salty is not a good look on Bill Simmons’ and unfortunately it’s his most frequent demeanor.
  2. Writers are not meant to be on camera. Except Shea Serrano. Shea Serrano should be on everything.
  3. What spurred this on? It’s definitely not that Simmons’ OWN SON, HIS OWN FLESH AND BLOOD, chose to be a Sixers fan. Nope. Not at all.

Sixers fans often deserve ridicule. I deserve ridicule. But please, not from the guy who called Celtics pick Guerschon Yabusele – playing this year for the Shanghai Sharks – “French Draymond.” Not him.
