The Sixers May Not Be A Lot of Fun in Free Agency

Thought to potentially go gang-busters in free agency before trading up for Markelle Fultz, the Sixers have helped to spike the guard market and might be relatively quite when the fun kicks off at 12:01 a.m. (yes, I’ll be up ). Zach Lowe reports that they may only offer one-year deals. From ESPN.com:

The Lakers are biding their time. The Sixers have told agents they will seek one-year deals this summer to preserve future space — and possibly use some of their current room to extend Robert Covington. The one-year gambit will be a hard sell for high-profile guys. J.J. Redick didn’t wait this long to sign a one-year deal at age 33.

Yeah that’s not getting J.J. Redick. Of course, someone like Redick could be exception while the Sixers round out the rest of the roster with a bunch of stop-gaps. I have no problem with this… it just might not be that exciting of a signing period.
