The Sixers Will Put Their Undefeated Play-in Record on the Line Against the Orlando Magic
The Sixers beat the Bucks by 20 points on Sunday evening to finish this season with a 45-37 record. Doc Rivers (probably) told reporters after the game it was a “schedule loss” and blamed the poor performance on the guy who does the laundry.
It sets up a Wednesday night play-in between the Sixers and Magic for the right to get throttled by the Celtics in the first round:
The Sixers have never lost a play-in game and are 1-0 all time in these matchups.
Not trying to be a douchebag or whatever, but the Joel Embiid thing really sucks the life out of this. He had his appendix removed three days ago. There’s no timeline for a return. If the Sixers make it out of the play-in, they’re facing either Boston or Detroit in the first round, and they’re not beating either of those teams without him. Best case scenario is that they battle like hell and extend the series and try to string this thing along as far as possible for a miraculous Joel return. But they’re missing their best player and they don’t have home court advantage, so they will be similar to Jon Bon Jovi, and living on a prayer.
But we’ll be tuned in on Wednesday night, because what else are we supposed to do, watch the Phillies? Plus, crazier shit has happened. Remember when Nick Foles led the Eagles to a Super Bowl win?
