Welcome Back to NBA and NHL Postponements

On the same day the City of Philadelphia announced that proof of vaccination will soon be required to attend events at the Wells Fargo Center, the NBA and NHL both postponed a handful of games due to COVID.

First up, the NBA:

The annoying thing here is that the Sixers were down eight guys during that joke of a Denver game last season and still had to play. What’s the threshold for absences? Nine? Ten? That’s bothersome.

Because of the postponements, the Pistons will get three days off (they need it) and the Raptors will get Wednesday/Thursday/Friday off instead of having to play three games in four nights. The Sixers played the Bulls twice already and don’t meet up again until February.

The players are Elias Lindholm, Andrew Mangiapane, Brad Richardson, Adam Ruzicka, Chris Tanev, and Nikita Zadorov.

Calgary played Boston on Saturday and will have three straight with a PPD designation, which are road trips to Nashville and Chicago and a home game against Toronto. They are slated to play at home again on the 18th and already played the Flyers twice.

It’s a bit of a kick in the balls to see the NHL and NBA postponing games, while the Union were down 11 guys for the Eastern Conference Finals and couldn’t get jack shit from Major League Soccer in terms of leeway. It’s also fatiguing in general to think that we are almost two years into COVID and still can’t seem to get out of weeds entirely.
