THE HAWK WILL NEVER DIE (from the ESPNU broadcast)

The Saint Joseph’s Hawks were once down 19 points in the second half of their second-round NIT match-up against the No. 2 seed California Golden Bears. In the end, they punched their ticket to the NIT Quarterfinals.

Derek Simpson capped off a furious comeback with a three to put the Hawks ahead 76-75 with 1:51 to go. After each team traded offensive possessions, California had the final look as Dai Dai Ames raced down the court only for Jaiden Glover-Toscano to meet him at the basket and say no.

Matt Martucci had the incredible call on the Saint Joseph’s Sports Network:

Saint Joseph’s will play New Mexico Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. It’ll air on ESPN2.
