Ed Foley Will Follow Matt Rhule to the Carolina Panthers

Longtime Temple football assistant coach joined Matt Rhule at Baylor last year, working for the Bears as an analyst.

With Rhule taking the Carolina Panthers job after Ron Rivera was let go, Foley is now reportedly joining Rhule’s staff as an assistant special teams coach, according to Marc Narducci of the Inquirer:

Foley spent 10 years on North Broad, serving in a variety of roles under Al Golden, Steve Addazio, Rhule, and Geoff Collins. Twice he was interim head coach, leading the Owls at the 2016 Military Bowl and 2018 Independence Bowl, which were the seasons following Rhule and Collins’ departures. Foley spent the majority of his time with Temple as an associate head coach who oversaw the tight ends and special teams unit.

He also dropped one of the best press conference quotes I’ve heard in recent years, showing off quite a bit of enthusiasm ahead of the 2018 bowl game:
