P.J. Walker, who played for Temple from 2013 to 2016, is returning to the NFL with the Carolina Panthers:

Walker went undrafted in 2017 and spent two seasons on the Colts’ practice squad. He decided to sign for the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL, where he put up 1,338 yards with 15 touchdowns and four interceptions en route to a 5-0 record before the season was postponed. He led the league in both passing yards and passing touchdowns.

P.J. will compete for a roster spot alongside Kyle Allen, Will Grier, and Teddy Bridgewater as the Panthers move on from Cam Newton, who has been told (i.e. forced) that he can seek a trade. Dianna Russini reports that the Seahawks and Cardinals also showed interest in Walker.

He was solid during that magical 2015 Temple run, throwing for just under 3,000 yards with 18 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He carried the ball for 200 yards and two scores as well. Temple ran the shit out of the football that year with Jahad Thomas and had a fantastic defense, but P.J. was pretty steady under center. Good for him in finding a way back to the NFL. Good story.
