Brandon Matthews, the Pride of Scranton and a former Temple Owl, will be making his major debut at the U.S. Open this week.

This guy’s been through it all in the last six years. Multiple injuries, fixing swing mechanics, grinding through Q School, losing his Korn Ferry Tour card, winning Latinoamerica Tour Player of the Year, getting promoted to the Korn Ferry again, and than securing his PGA Tour card just last week:

Basically the same highs and lows you experience on your muni course every weekend, except he has to find a way to feed his family when he has a shitty day and you just blame it on the 10 Miller Lites you housed.

Philly loves an underdog story! If that isn’t enough, this guy bombs it off the tee and makes eagle like he’s Happy Gilmore on the final hole of the Tour Championship:

The only problem is the damn course could be Brandon-proof because The Country Club prides itself on design over distance. Doesn’t matter, I’m still putting some scratch on Brandon at 5500/1 because like Kevin Malone said, “If anyone gives you 5500 to one on anything, you take it.”

If you want to follow Brandon’s week, there’s a Brandon Matthews Tracker on Twitter.

Lets Go Brandon (Matthews)!
