Just like we all expected, the Temple Owls have entered the bowl conversation at ESPN.

Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach are predicting the following:

Wednesday, Dec. 17

StaffDNA Cure Bowl
Camping World Stadium (Orlando, Florida)
5 p.m., ESPN

Bonagura: Wake Forest vs. Temple
Schlabach: Western Michigan vs. Troy

Tuesday, Dec. 23

Boca Raton Bowl
Flagler Credit Union Stadium (Boca Raton, Florida)
2 p.m., ESPN

Bonagura: Southern Miss vs. Liberty
Schlabach: Temple vs. Toledo

There are various tie-ins to the respective conferences, but the four American bowls are the Military Bowl, Armed Forces Bowl, Fenway Bowl, and Hawai’i Bowl. There are also eight bowls that will feature four American teams, and those are the Frisco Bowl, Boca Raton Bowl, Cure Bowl, Gasparilla Bowl, Myrtle Beach Bowl, First Responder Bowl, New Mexico Bowl, and Birmingham Bowl.

For some sad history, the Owls haven’t been to a bowl since 2019 and haven’t won a bowl since 2017, when Geoff Collins went 7-6 in his first season and thumped FIU in the Gasparilla.

As it stands right now, the Owls are 4-3 and need to win two of five to finish with bowl eligibility. They play 2-5 Tulsa on the road this weekend and should win that game. The Golden Hurricane stinks. If they handle business there, they just need one more win against:

  • 6-1 Tulane
  • 3-4 Army
  • 4-3 ECU
  • 6-1 North Texas

They get Tulane and ECU at home, while Army and North Texas are on the road. It’ll be a bit tricky, but this Owls team had Navy on the ropes and LET THEM OFF THE HOOK. I think they can play with anyone in the American. My final prediction is 7-5 and a bowl berth for K.C. Keeler and the boys. Temple football is back! Tail me now! –
