This Weekend’s College Football Slate is Getting Wiped Out

Let’s check in on the Southeastern Conference football season.

From ESPN:

Georgia’s football game at Missouri on Saturday has been postponed because of a combination of positive tests, contact tracing and subsequent quarantining of individuals within the Missouri program, the SEC announced Wednesday morning.

This is now the fourth SEC game in three days that has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Well that’s no good.

Let’s check in on the Big 10, which actually has twelve teams:

As it stands, eight weekend games are now postponed or cancelled due to COVID-19.

They are:

• Buckeyes/Terps
• Georgia/Missouri
• LSU/Bama
• Tennessee/TAMU
• Auburn/Mississippi State
• Memphis/Navy
• Air Force/Wyoming
• UL Monroe/Arkansas State

 

At this rate, Marshall and Tennessee State might be the marquee game of the week. We’re losing games left and right. The only SEC teams actually scheduled to play are Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Florida, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Ole Miss. Six teams are playing and eight are not, so that’s… <checks math> less than 50% of the conference that is actually able to be on the field this weekend.

We need to start taking bets on who plays and who doesn’t. Penn State vs. Nebraska? We’ll set the odds at +125. Temple at UCF? Let’s start at +140.
