Beasley Media Group Selling Five Florida Radio Stations

Beasley Media Group’s second quarter 2025 revenue fell 12.3% to $53 million as continued weakness in national and local agency sales outweighed digital gains. Digital revenue grew 1.3% year-over-year (8.1% same-station) to $13.2 million, representing 25% of total revenue for the first time, with the segment’s operating margin climbing from 17.8% in Q1 to 26.8%.
…
During the call, Beasley announced the company has entered into agreements to sell its entire Fort Myers-Naples cluster, five stations in two transactions totaling $18 million. In June, Beasley sold classic rock “98.7 The Shark” WPBB Tampa to EMF for $8 million. “As a result of the sales… the company will no longer have operations in the Fort Myers-Naples market,” Beasley said. All deals are subject to FCC approval, and proceeds will be used to pay down debt.
Naturally, this has people wondering if Beasley would ever sell one or more of their Philadelphia stations. They own 97.5 the Fanatic, 93.3 WMMR, and 102.9 WMGK, which played a Green Day song the other day. If Green Day is “classic rock,” then we’re all getting old, or maybe it was an error. The other stations in the cluster are 92.5 WXTU, 95.7 BEN FM, WWDB 860, WJBR, and something called “Playa Philadelphia,” which is a Spanish station.
Obviously WMMR remains huge, despite the cuts there. WMGK does well in the ratings and XTU as well. Country music is lowkey popular up here, it just flies under the radar a bit. Beasley could conceivably sell the Fanatic, but is there a buyer out there? Can they sell in this market? Would they forfeit the Sixers and Flyers radio rights?
If Beasley does decide to get rid of the Fanatic, they shouldn’t do it until they give this guy a shot:
