We’ve been getting emails –

“What happened to Gabriella Galati at Action News?”

No clue, honestly, but her bio is no longer on the website and readers say they haven’t seen her on television in months. We called and emailed her agent, CBK Media Management, and they didn’t respond. Action News typically never responds to PR emails and phone calls because their policy is not to comment on personnel matters.

So I called the news desk straight up and the person who answered the phone confirmed that Galati is no longer working at Action News. I didn’t ask for specifics; could be private reasons or a layoff or anything really, but at least we got a straight answer without having to go into weirdo stalker mode.

Maybe Galati will come out at some point in the near future with a message. She joined Action News in July of 2023 after working with the Philadelphia Eagles as an in-house host.

What’s interesting is that people care about this stuff, like REALLY care. We get more emails about television and radio talent than anything else, especially Action News, since their talent tends to disappear without a trace. Galati, Jessica Boyington, Jamie Apody, Jeff Skversky, etc. It feels like we get one of these per year, like somebody dropping off the face of the Earth entirely.

I guess the rhetorical question is whether or not this is our business. It’s a good question and a fair question. These are private companies and they don’t have to say shit if they don’t want to. But WPVI is a public-facing entity that delivers news and information to a loyal viewership in a humongous media market. There are tens of thousands of people in this region, probably hundreds of thousands, who trust Action News and have committed to the station over many years, carrying that fealty across generations, from Jim Gardner and Vernon Odom to Rick Williams and Maggie Kent and the current staff. So I don’t think it’s asking too much for some basic reciprocity, in this case telling viewers what happened to their favorite sports reporter or meteorologist, assuming they’re not entangled with lawyers and non-disclosure agreements.

Shout out to the guy on the phone for the confirmation.
