93.3 WMMR program director Chuck Damico went on Preston and Steve’s Monday morning show to announce that Matt Cord will take the midday shift following Pierre Robert’s death:

“It has to be a very special person. It has to be a total pro. It has to be somebody who understands WMMR and somebody that understands Pierre Robert. They have to have a tremendous amount of musical credibility. They have to know the city. They have to be highly respected. They have to be knowledgeable and entertaining when it comes to music and radio. So with all of that being said, I am very grateful to be able to announce that the next midday host on WMMR is our old buddy and our family member, Mr. Matt Cord.”

Cord joined the show and said a few words. He’s honored and sad at the same time.

“We were good friends for 35 years and I think (Pierre) would approve of this,” Cord said. That thought was corroborated by the hosts.

This is a move that makes sense for Beasley. Cord has been hosting the morning show on WMGK since John DeBella’s 2023 retirement. He’s a veteran in the market who has worked previously at WMMR and has been in radio for decades now. Sports fans will also know him as the PA voice of the Sixers going back to the Doug Collins days (edit – I had a brain fart, it’s been longer than that, I just vaguely recall some contest Adam Aron held about 13-14 years ago). He noted that recurring segments will continue, such as the “workforce” blocks and vinyl cuts, a tribute to the consistency and familiarity heard on MMR middays.

Cord starts on Monday, and this does take him off the MGK morning show. An announcement on his replacement there will be coming “very soon,” according to Damico.

Assuming nothing else changes at WMMR, the lineup moving forward will be Preston and Steve, Matt Cord middays, then Brent Porche at 3 p.m. The rest of the staff remains in place, with Jacky Bam Bam, Sara, Markus, and several others.
