RADIO WARS: Sean Brace Going Full Time in 97.5 the Fanatic Return
Quick aside from the NHL trade deadline and A.J Brown rumormongering for some RADIO WARS.
Sean Brace is returning to 97.5 the Fanatic on a full-time basis, announced on Friday’s midday show with Jon Marks:
“It’s time to make a permanent co-host on the show. The new co-host, permanent co-host for Middays with Marks, five days a week… the permanent host joins us on the phone lines right now… <David Hasselhoff bit plays> Sean Brace!!!!”
This marks a permanent reunion for Marks and Brace, who hosted together on 97.5 middays more than 10 years ago. That was when the lineup included the Mike and Mike national morning show, Tony Bruno and Harry Mayes, and Mike Missanelli on PM drive. Marks eventually moved to mornings, then made his way over to 94 WIP before returning to the Fanatic last September. Brace hosted the Daily Ticket afternoon show at iHeart’s Fox Sports the Gambler between 2019 and 2025, but lost his job when he was swept up in October layoffs.
When Marks returned to the Fanatic six months ago, he was originally supposed to work alongside Mike Missanelli on the midday show. But after Missanelli’s shock layoff, Marks wound up solo, and filled the co-host chair with a rotating cast of characters, bringing back Brace, Mayes, and Jason Myrtetus to split duties and create a throwback vibe. Amy Fadool also co-hosted as well.
RE: ratings, I have to ask around. I’ve been asleep at the wheel. In truth, I haven’t been listening at all. I throw on the Fanatic sometimes when I’m in the truck, but I actually removed WIP from my presets because it became totally unlistenable. Why? Because it’s the same fucking thing every day. Should the Eagles trade A.J. Brown? Is Jalen Hurts an elite quarterback? Is Nick Sirianni a total buffoon?
“More on that after the commercial break, but first I want to tell you about my friends at <insert slimeball car dealership here>.“
Rinse and repeat. The same god damn thing every day. I don’t know how the talent does it over there, like how is it possible that they talk about this for four hours every day without wanting to kill themselves? Joe DeCamara’s morning show isn’t bad, but the other shows are exhausting.
Presumably, WIP is still hammering 97.5 in Nielsen meters, but I’ll check.
play the song!
